Galaxy Tab 2 10.1: What’s Different
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is now shipping, and PCWorld is running it through our gauntlet of tests to see how it compares with its predecessor. Our full review is forthcoming, but in the meantime, here’s a quick look at the Tab 2′s performance as compared with the original, nearly year-old Galaxy Tab 10.1.
In short, last year’s tablet actually outperformed the new model on some of our tests. Some metrics, such as our Sunspider tests, were effectively identical. Others showed a distinct trend toward sluggish performance by Tab 2 10.1. For example, the Tab 2′s cold start-up time was 22 percent longer than the original Tab, 44 seconds to the original’s 36 seconds. And its results on our GLBenchmark were mixed — the Tab 2 slightly outpaced the the original Tab on the Egypt Offscreen and Pro Offscreen tests, but it lagged slightly on Egypt Standard and Egypt Pro Standard.

Samsung Galaxy S3 specs
The Galaxy S3 shape is nicely designed to be curvy, natural to hold, and “human” (or at least, “organic”) as Samsung would put it. I’m pretty sure that there is going quite a bit of debate about which of the HTC One or the Samsung Galaxy S3 (or the Galaxy Nexus) is better looking, in fact I can already see this in my social networks – this is not a clear-cut win in terms of mindshare. I like the Galaxy S3 a lot, but I have to warn that it has a bit of a “plastic” feel, which is not unlike other Samsung phones, but keep in mind that for its size, it is very light 133g. Those who liked the Galaxy S2 will most likely love the Galaxy S3. Those who didn’t (typically, the HTC-lovers) may simply stick to their guns, although they should really look at the Galaxy S3

Samsung No. 1 Raises Pressure on Apple for IPhone Choices: Tech
May 3 (Bloomberg) — Samsung Electronics Co. regained the lead in smartphones from Apple Inc. in the first quarter of this year. One of its weapons: screens of many different sizes.
Samsung sells at least 13 smartphones with screens ranging from 2.8 inches on the Replenish to 5.3 inches on the Galaxy Note. Apple, which has always believed in a limited number of models, offers only a 3.5-inch display on its two iPhones. Suwon, South Korea-based Samsung is testing the tablet market as well with a similar plan.
The different strategies — and the success of Samsung’s — has led analysts including London-based Neil Mawston at Strategy Analytics to speculate that Apple will have to expand its line at some point. Samsung also ended the 14-year reign of Nokia Oyj as the world’s biggest maker of all kinds of phones in the last quarter.

Barnes & Noble to Add NFC Technology to Nook
Barnes & Noble plans to add near-field communication (NFC) technology to its Nook e-reader platform, chief executive William Lynch said Tuesday.
Lynch also revealed that the Barnes & Noble Simple Touch with Glowlight, B&N’s latest Nook, has sold out. The Nook Color, by contrast, has been Barnes & Noble’s best-selling device, he said.
According to a question-and-answer session in Fortune, B&N plans to ask publishers to embed NFC chips inside hardback books, turning the Nook into a sort of “second screen” for the bookstore.
